WPEC-12 is wrong

What's is wrong with WPEC-12?

The station is promoting a story about "allegations" concerning the Palm Beach Zoo. The story is flat wrong. But they are more interested in boosting audience during sweeps week then doing a fair report. It's a shame that a fine organization is being unfairly attacked.

This blog is here to make sure that accurate information is available to friends of the Palm Beach Zoo.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to hearing from you.

  1. WPEC has a long history of questionable work...this is just one more example.

  2. Anonymous is absolutely right. WPEC has proven what so many have suspected for years. Shame on WPEC for going after such a caring and wonderful gem as our Palm Beach Zoo.

  4. I will always support the Palm Beach Zoo for the tireless effort that ALL the employees put into their jobs to maintain excellence at that establishment. It is not only a great and fascinating place to go but a place that will remain in West Palm Beach as historical. For someone to try to drag down the Palm Beach Zoo's name should be ashamed. 5. As a former employee of the Palm Beach Zoo, I know that the care for the animals is sincere and managed with intelligence. The commissary is a clean, efficient and well run component in the care of and rehabilitation of more than 1000 animals. The integrity of the Palm Beach Zoo will stand up tall during this bump from bad media.

  7. Although there is a zoo near my home, I drive 2 hours to go to the Palm Beach Zoo. It is a beautiful place with well-cared for animals and a staff that is made up of educated and caring individuals. WPEC owes it to the community of Palm Beach to air both sides of the story and to question the motives of people who have a history of stirring up trouble.

  8. As sad as it is to know that there are people out there in the world who would like nothing more then to disrupt the work at the zoo--I think it's even worse that there are people out there that would happily promote disruption and condemn the truth so that they could gain a falsely based audience. However, I believe in the strength of this zoo and the firm beliefs of it's workers. In my time there, I've gained nothing but respect for the workers and volunteers there. Palm Beach Zoo will stand strong through this storm.

  9. As a former emplyee of the zoo I will be the frist to say that the animals are well cared for and always come first. WPEC should look closely at the people they are getting there "leads" from. The manager with the inside information has a history of making "claims" against the company she has worked for. For anyone that has any doubt please go to the zoo and see the staff in action. See how they work with the animals. Talk to them and you will see just how much they all care for the animals.

  10. WPEC doesn't care where they get their leads from...it's all about ratings, not about actually doing an accurate story. WPEC only cares about getting a sensationalized story to try to beef up those ratings. Although, WPEC is good when you need a laugh...they are the "1 2 turn 2" for poor reporting and inept anchor watching.

  11. I have been to the Zoo with my family on several occasions and I have found it to be a wonderful place. The animals are safe, healthy and the staff is amazing. It is very sad that one extremist can alter how people feel or get any type of unwanted media attention. Keep up the great work Palm Beach Zoo and don't worry about these individuals.

  12. I have been going to the Palm Beach Zoo since I was a little girl and have had a zoo membership since 1989. My children grew up going to the zoo at least once a week. It is still one of their favorite places to go and they are teenagers and young adults with there own children now. The zoo has changed greatly over the years to a wonderful place to spend an educational and relaxing day for everyone.
The animals are always in good health and the zoo is always clean. It's sad that a local news station would publisize an unfounded story about a local favorite spot.
    Thank you,
